Term 2

Topics covered in Term two computer science:

All students in grade 5 participate in Invention convention. (Invention Convention is a K-12 invention program that teaches students problem-identification, problem-solving, entrepreneurship and creativity skills and builds confidence in invention, innovation and entrepreneurship for life.)
The invention process and the engineering process
Creating new sprites and assigning them events and behaviors.
Creating an animation using sprites, and behaviors.
Developing programs that respond to timed events and user input.
Breaking down a long sequence of instructions into the largest repeatable sequence.
Employing a combination of sequential and looped commands to reach the end of a maze.
Identifying the benefits of using a loop structure instead of manual repetition.
Determine whether a conditional is met based on criteria.
