Term 2
Topics covered in Term two computer science:
- All students in grade 5 participate in Invention convention. (Invention Convention is a K-12 invention education program that teaches students problem-identification, problem-solving, entrepreneurship and creativity skills and builds confidence in invention, innovation and entrepreneurship for life.)
- The invention process and the engineering process
- Creating new sprites and assigning them events and behaviors.
- Creating an animation using sprites, and behaviors.
- Developing programs that respond to timed events and user input.
- Breaking down a long sequence of instructions into the largest repeatable sequence.
- Employing a combination of sequential and looped commands to reach the end of a maze.
- Identifying the benefits of using a loop structure instead of manual repetition.
- Determine whether a conditional is met based on criteria.
