Why choose debate?

Debate club meets Monday (and Wednesdays when neccessary for tornment preperation. Students will be notified a week in advance) for all grades in room 308 from 3:45 to 4:45 beginning October 2nd.

The Power of Speech & Debate Education

Debate is a valuable activity for students of all skill levels. Debate teaches useful skills for other academic pursuits and life more generally. Most obviously, debaters build confidence speaking in public and expressing their ideas eloquently. That comfort speaking in front of others is useful in so many areas of life, from interviews to school presentations to discussions in college seminars.

Our Debate Team 2023-2024 is off to a great start this year. 8th grade Debaters attended the NAACP annual Great Debate at the Bridgeport Amphitheater on Friday October 6th. This was a Parliamentary style debate between the HBU Howard University and Ivy League Yale University.
