Student work

Grade 4
Grade 4 students recently learned about digital citizenship and what goes into their digital footprint. Students made posters to help them  remember all that goes into a digital footprint as well as how good digital citizens behave.

Grade 5

Grade 5 is currently learning how to creating digital artifacts with Google Docs and Google slides.
Grade 6
In grade 6 computer science students are working on algorithms and sequence. This week they faced the paper tower challenge and the fortune teller sequence challenge. For the paper tower challange, students engineered free standing towers over 39 inches tall. This activity is preparing students for the upcoming weeks in which they will start building algorithms that will run their video game programs.
Grade 7
In grade 7 computer science students put their problem solving and computational thinking skills to the test in the lego challenge. Students are gaining an understanding of how important details are in programming. Teams built lego structures and were tasked with writing out detailed instructions so other classmates could recreate them.
During week 4 grade 7 students were introduced to artificial intelligence and a form of artificial intelligence called machine learning. Students explored how Artificial Intelligence is used in many areas of our lives - from facial recognition in our phones to personal recommendations when we browse the web, and even in driverless cars. In order to understand just how intertwined A.I. is in our everyday lives students participated in a scavenger hunt where they had to identify A.I. in 25 different aspects of everyday life.
Grade 8
In grade 8 computer science students put their problem solving and computational thinking skills to the test in the 4 point star challenge. Students are gaining an understanding of how important the problem solving proccess and computational thinking are in programming.  They had to think outside the box in order to solve the challenge. They were up to the task!
