Music Course Overview (Grades 4 through 8)
Welcome to music class! I’m so excited to embark on this musical journey with you.
Course Description: In the Middle School Music program at Park City Prep Charter school, we are going to focus on Music Theory, Music History, and learning how to play instruments. Students will learn how to creatively express themselves through composing, tell stories through songwriting, gain practical musical instrument skills, learn how to read music, and will be introduced to music, both old and new, from all around the world.

Music Technology
- Soundtrap (recording, mixing, composing)
Grading Procedures: Your grade is determined by the following categories and grading scale:
- Participation = 30%
- Assessment = 30%
- Performance = 40%
Classroom Policies
- Instrument care - We will be respectful of the equipment we use.
- Kindness - We will be respectful of each other.
- Follow the Conductor - When making music we will learn to stop and start together,
follow directions, and track the teacher on cue.
- Listen to Learn - Music is all about Call and Response. We listen with attentive
ears so that we can learn.
- Have fun! - Remember, when we meet and exceed expectations, music is a joy.
