Hello, and welcome to my teacher page for Park City Prep! My name is Ryan Mills, and I am your student's 8th grade math teacher. I am excited to be teaching your student this year! Please read the syllabus for my details about the class. Common questions I get that you might find helpful:

 

Q: When is homework assigned? How about iReady?

A: Students get one sheet of paper homework every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Students also need to complete one iReady lesson per week. They are assigned homework time on Thursday and Friday to complete the iReady lesson.

 

Q: What can I do to support my child at home with their understanding of math homework and classwork?

A: There are a few things you can do! (1) Try to do the homework with them (not for them). If you don't know the math, this is ok. Feel free to use online resources to help including AI, youtube, Khan Academy, etc. The most important thing is that your child completes the homework feeling like they know how to do the problems. (2) I offer tutoring during the students lunch hour, by request, on certain days of the week. Encourage your student to ask me to attend and get extra help. (3) Your student can do more than just one iReady lesson per week. I find that the students who consistently grow the most each year, do more iReady than is assigned each week.

 

Q: Would you be willing to write my child a recommendation for high school?

A: I write many high school recommendations each year. Please reach out and I will let you know! Please give me at least a few days heads up to be able to finish on time and write your student a quality recommendation.
