Ms. Visuano's 6th Grade Social Studies class
We will be taking a deep dive into the wonderful world of history by examining ancient cultures, but first, will learn the core concepts: learning how to read maps and time lines, learning about artifacts, and learning about early humans and the agricultural revolution.
Students will be learning through a variety of methods and will even get to participate in hands on labs and projects throughout the term. Students will also be learning about cultures around the world through research projects, class lessons, and even music.
Our curriculum focus will be on the following topics:
Early Humans
First Civilizations- Mesopotamia
Ancient Egypt
Ancient Greece
Ancient Rome (if time permits)
* students will also get some information on Mesoamerica throughout the year.
Culture is a main focus/theme in this class; we frequently talk about holidays and holiday origins.
Please review the outline and syllabus for information about the class, expectations, grading, homework & assignments, and the supply list.
